Famous for its white sand beaches, Boracay is one of the few first rate and premier tourist spots in the Philippines. Many Filipino travelers as well as foreigners spend their vacation in this beautiful tropical island in the southern region of the country. Because of the improving amenities that hotels and restaurants offer, most tourists do not have second thoughts to stay in Boracay for several months.

Geography of the Alluring Island

Located 315 kilometers of Manila, capital of Philippines, and two kilometers north of Panay Island, Boracay is very accessible to the different forms of transportation. The estimated length of this tropical island is seven kilometers and its land area is 10.32 square kilometers. Boracay has three big barangays namely Manoc-Manoc, Yapak and Balabag. To maintain the beauty and charm of this island, the government of Aklan makes sure that they coordinate every project that they wish to introduce to the island with Philippine Tourism Authority.

Famous Beaches

Many tourists travel to Boracay during summer to have a dip at its five famous beaches. White Beach, the most popular of all beaches, has clear blue water that is inviting to people who want water sports like scuba diving and snorkeling. Meanwhile, Manoc-Manoc Beach is famous to those who want to admire the scenic views in the island. Puka Shell Beach or Yapak Beach, the next largest beach to White Beach, is amusing because it houses collection of attractive puka shells.

Balinghai Beach is the smallest beach in the island but it is suitable for those who want to have relaxing and private moments with their loved ones. Diniwid Beach is near to White Beach. It is the one of the best and most appropriate places in Boracay to have picnics and do some recreational activities like snorkeling.

Appealing Hotels and Resorts

Boracay houses several outstanding, first class and elegant hotels and resorts. Situated in the center of White Beach, Boracay Regency Beach Resort features 285 rooms that have complete amenities including mini-bar and refrigerator. Other recreational facilities in this resort are swimming pool and videoke lounge.

Another beautiful resort in the island is Escondido Beach Resort. It features deluxe and suite rooms that have mini kitchen and Jacuzzi. This resort offers other special services like airport transfer and laundry services. Meanwhile, Boracay Holiday Resort offers relaxing and comfortable rooms to families who want to enjoy and have fun. Rooms in the resort are fully air-conditioned and have colored television sets with cable connection.

Inviting Restaurants

For tourists who crave for Italian dishes, they should dine at Aria because it serves sumptuous and tasty pizzas and pastas. Aside from pizzas and pastas, chefs in this dining place also offer amazing international meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Travelers who prefer Greek dishes should visit Cyma. Some of the dishes that this restaurant serves are soulvaki and tzatiziki.

Another famous restaurant in the island is Lemon i Café. This restaurant is best for individuals who want to try French cuisine such as steak sandwich and baguettes. Lastly, travelers can have a taste of Swiss dishes like Raclette at Mango Ray’s.

With all these commercial and recreational establishments, Boracay is definitely one of the best tourist spots in then Philippines. To have a memorable travel experience to the island, it is best that travelers look for hotels and resorts that offer affordable and remarkable travel packages. Still loving French food… we had a raclette party at our apartment. It was a blast!! Raclette is also a dish indigenous to parts of Switzerland, Wallonia and France. The Raclette cheese round is heated, either in front of a fire or by a special machine, then scraped onto diners’ plates; the term raclette derives from the French racler, meaning “to scrape”. Traditionally, it is accompanied by small firm potatoes (Bintje, Charlotte or Raclette varieties), gherkins, pickled onions, dried meat, such as prosciutto and viande des Grisons, sliced peppers, tomato, onion, mushrooms, pears, and dusted with paprika and fresh-ground black pepper.

The French have long been known as being among the rest of the world as being leaders in gourmet cooking. Their recipes have been modified and evolved over centuries of social and political changes. While the world may only have one view of their dishes, such as the popular coq-au-vin, their recipes are as varied as the regions from which they originate.

Lyon is home to duck pate, sausages, or roast pork, while in Toulouse you might be served a Cassoulet (a rich, slow-cooked bean stew or casserole). Brittany is famed for their crepes, while Rhone-Alps has such dishes as Raclette (cheese is melted and served with potatoes, ham and often dried beef) and Tartiflette (Savoyard gratin with potatoes, Reblochon cheese, cream and pork).

They also have some provincial recipes, such as Bull Fillet with Farm Rice, and even have cooking videos to show you how they are made. They come complete with recipe card and a Michelin rated chef to show you how to prepare these incredibly gourmet dinners. They are truly the wave of the future in making gourmet meals and simplifying the process. These innovative videos rarely are more than 10 minutes, and have written instructions should you miss anything along the way.

The French have always had an appreciation for foods above and beyond the basic breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also have a love of wine and cheese, as evidenced by the appropriately named town of Burgundy, from which the very popular wine originates, as well as Chaource and Epoisses cheeses.

With the wide variety of dishes, accompanied by their fabulous wine, it is easy to see why the French regularly rate as the top in gourmet creations.

Most ski resorts have an international character. The architecture and facilities are often standard, and the restaurants prepare international cuisines. Thus, this question is reasonable: where can skiers get a true French style holiday while skiing in the French Alps? If the skiers will come into the Chamonix Valley from the west, they will find the answer – the new ski resort of Les Houches.

The Les Houches is a traditional French village in which the geographical domain is located between 950 and 1900 meters above sea level. At the highest elevation, the skiers and tourists will enjoy an encompassing 360-degree view of Mont-Blanc. The ski area has a total of 55 kilometers with 22 well-maintained icy slopes with 10 kilometers dedicated to cross-country skiing. Most ski runs meander through the forest, making skiing even more pleasurable, while the cross-country trails are located near the Chavants Lake.

The majority of the pistes at the new ski resort of Les Houches are suited for beginners and intermediate skiers. However, there is one slope for experts, the La Verte des Houches, which is used for international ski championships. Nevertheless, expert skiers may find greater satisfaction in exploring the nearby regions. Fortunately, when in Les Houches, the skiers will have easy access to the whole ski region of the Mont-Blanc, which comprises a total of 700 kilometers of ski runs spread over 343 pistes. There will most certainly be enough access to black runs for the expert skiers.

More than a hundred snow cannons augment the snow and the skiers will find excellent snow conditions. The skiers are serviced by a modern lift system that has nine draglifts, six chairlifts, one bubble lift, and one cable car. Aside from skiing, the new ski resort of Les Houches also provide facilities for other winter holiday activities such as ski jumping, paragliding, ice skating, ice hockey, dog sledging, and even helicopter tours. All of these fantastic amenities make Les Houches competitive with other ski resorts. But what makes the Les Houches ski resort uniquely French?

The new ski resort of Les Houches has an exceptional and genuine Savoyard vista, which is reflective of the peace-loving and independent French spirit. During the day, the atmosphere is sparkling and animated and during the night, the mood is relaxed and laid back. Thus, during the day, the skiers can concentrate on conquering the slopes while enjoying the spectacular scenery of Mont-Blanc and the charming French architecture of Les Houches and during the evenings, the skiers can relax and spend longer hours in restaurants to enjoy French specialties such as farcement, raclette, fondue, and tartiflette. Of course, there are also shops, discos, cinemas, and nightclubs.

To experience French holidays at the new ski resort of Les Houches, the skiers may choose any of the several methods to reach this authentic French village. They can drive for approximately eight hours, starting from Calais. Or they can fly in through any of the six nearby airports, such as the Geneva Airport.

Christmas crackers are probably one of the little gems of the British Christmas tradition. Popular in a number of different countries, including Canada, New Zealand and Australia, the Christmas cracker is one of those customs that Christmas just would not be the same without; and in addition to the joke, the hat and the piece of paper that makes the cracker go with a bang, they also contain fun gifts that could become perfect stocking fillers.

But what is the history behind the humble Christmas cracker, and where did they come from? According to reports, Tom Smith, a confectioner looking to develop a range of sweets, created the Christmas cracker in London in 1847; in the face of falling sales, Mr Smith created crackers as a way of enticing customers.

While the initial idea of adding a motto did not prove to be particularly successful, Mr Smith opted to introduce the now familiar explosion after reportedly becoming inspired by the sound of a crackling fire. After increasing the size of the wrapping to make room for the banging mechanism, it was decided that the sweet should be dropped and replaced with a toy. Initially known as the Cosaque, the product developed into the Christmas cracker that we all know and love today.

However, when it comes to modern day Christmas crackers, what are you planning on putting into his stocking this year? Stocking Fillers are a great way to treat him to something cheeky – a fun gift that he wasn’t expecting, but will nevertheless make his day.

So, for any girls looking for stocking fillers for their man, it’s a good idea to consider a gift that accurately reflects his personality and tastes. So, if he’s known far and wide as a lover of cheese, why not consider the Swiss Cheese Door Wedge? Made from something considerably more durable and long lasting than its more edible alternative, the Swiss Cheese Door Wedge is definitely one of those stocking fillers than can open doors.

The history of cheese is a long one, with its production going back to ancient times that actually predate recorded history. It is not known where cheese originated from, but there is certainty behind the idea that cheese production predates Roman times. However, Swiss cheese in a number of different countries is quite a generic term, and is often used as a way to describe cheese that appear to be quite like Emmental, a variety of Swiss cheese. Also known as Emmentaler, Emmenthal, or even Emmentahler, this tasty creation is a non-protected variety of cheese produced in a number of different countries, including Germany and France. Characteristically made with distinctive large holes, Emmental is created with the assistance of a number of different types of bacteria, including Lactobacillus and Propionibacter Shermani.

However, there is far more to Swiss cheese than Emmental, and if your man is that much of a cheese-lover, why not put something hard into his stocking? Fans of extra-hard Swiss cheese might like to consider Sbrinz; produced in central Switzerland, Sbinz is an incredibly hard cheese that can be used in place of Parmesan. Allegedly the oldest variety of cheese in Europe, Sbrinz is so good, he’d have to be crackers to pass up a chance to try it!

However, if your man prefers something a little softer, why not consider some stocking fillers from Switzerland’s range of semi-hard cheeses? In addition to the classic Raclette, there are a number of fine examples to choose from, including Appenzeller, Tete de Moine and Vacherin Fribourgeois, a cheese produced in both Switzerland and France.

So, if cheese is something that he’ll appreciate as part of a package of stocking fillers, why not accompany it with a selection of biscuits? With so many to choose from, including Cornish Wafers, Water Biscuits, Oat Cakes and Digestives for cheese, any cheese-lover worth his salt would be crackers not to give them a try!
